We at PEOPLE HUNT are hiring a Senior Backend Developer on behalf of a fast-scaling iGaming start-up building high-performance, real-time systems.

In this role, you’ll design and implement robust backend services that power a next-generation gaming platform. You’ll work across event-driven architectures, scalable data layers, and modern DevOps pipelines to deliver reliable, maintainable APIs and platform functionality optimized for performance and growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services in Node.js (TypeScript) following clean, modular, and maintainable architecture principles.

• Build and support REST and WebSocket / real-time APIs.

• Work with message queues and event streaming systems (pub/sub, streams).

• Optimize system performance, latency, throughput, and resource usage.

• Design and maintain SQL/NoSQL databases, caching layers, and replication strategies.

• Maintain and evolve CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, and enforce high code quality.

• Collaborate with DevOps on scalability, observability, and deployment processes.

• Conduct code reviews, mentor teammates, and continuously raise engineering standards.

• Partner with Product to scope, design, and deliver reliable, high-impact features.

What You Bring

• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript.

• Experience with NestJS, Express, or Koa (structured framework experience preferred).

• Proficiency with PostgreSQL / MySQL, Redis, and/or MongoDB.

• Practical experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or NATS for queues and event streaming.

• Comfortable using Docker, Kubernetes, and GitHub Actions for CI/CD and deployment.

• Familiarity with monitoring and tracing tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, or Sentry.
